Egg dosa, a traditional Indian dish made from fermented rice and lentil batter filled with a layer of egg, offers several health benefits. Eggs are rich in high-quality protein, essential amino acids, and various vitamins and minerals, including vitamin D and choline, promoting muscle growth, bone health, and cognitive function. The dosa itself, when prepared with fermented batter, becomes a good source of probiotics, aiding digestion and gut health.

Ingredients:

  • Dosa batter
  • Eggs
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Finely chopped onions 
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves 
  • Oil or ghee for cooking

Instructions:

Preparation:

Spread Dosa Batter:

  • Pour a ladleful of dosa batter onto the center of the tawa.
  • Spread the batter evenly in a circular motion to form a thin layer.

Add Egg:

  • Crack an egg onto the center of the dosa.
  • Spread the egg slightly with a spatula.

Seasoning:

  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, finely chopped onions, and coriander leaves over the egg.

Drizzle Oil or Ghee:

  • Drizzle a little oil or ghee around the edges of the dosa and on top of the egg.

Cooking:

  • Cook the dosa until the edges start to lift and turn golden brown, and the egg is cooked to your desired doneness.
  • You can cover the dosa with a lid briefly to ensure the egg cooks evenly.

 Fold and Serve:

  • Once cooked, carefully fold the dosa in half or roll it.
  • Transfer the egg dosa to a plate.

Serving:

  • Serve the egg dosa hot with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, or sambar.
